Focus & Attention

The last few months, I’ve been learning and researching articles about our collective drops in focus and attention. This research has been surprising and concerning – so much so, that it’s caused me to adjust a few things – both personally and professionally.

My initial interest in this work arose from a conference I spoke at this spring, related to Attention & Avoiding Missteps in AI.

Turns out there’s some interesting overlaps between lack of ability to focus for sustained periods of time, a constancy of interruptions, and heightened levels of stress. Collectively, our ability to sustain our focus and attention has been slipping for a while – which is a posing a real problem for us individually. As business leaders start to recognize the impact this is having on productivity and innovation, along with the increased stress levels within teams – education and tools to address this issue will become a higher priority.

For ease, some quick references and insights are provided below. We hope they prove supportive.
